Meet our Board of Directors

Jeremy Wever – President

Jeremy has been a dedicated supporter of the Grant Fine Arts programs, serving as President of the Grant Fine Arts Boosters. With a passion for strengthening opportunities in music, theatre, and the arts, Jeremy works closely with students, parents, and educators to ensure the fine arts remain a vibrant part of the Grant community.

Professionally, Jeremy has built a long and accomplished career with the local Caterpillar dealer, where he has worked since 1997. Over the years, he has held multiple roles including Technician, Service Leader, and Field Technician, earning a reputation for his technical expertise, leadership, and commitment to customer service. His decades of experience reflect both his skill in the trade and his dedication to supporting the needs of his community through reliable service.

Balancing his professional career with his volunteer leadership, Jeremy brings the same values of hard work, integrity, and teamwork to the Fine Arts Boosters. His vision is to help students discover their talents, build confidence, and share their creativity with the wider community. He strives to support the programs that will facilitate these endeavors.

Matthew Maleski - Director of Operations

Matthew Maleski has served as the Director of Operations on the Fine Arts Board since September 2021 and in that time has seen many transitions of school staff in the arts departments as well as the Fine Arts Board. Matt has been very involved in the arts from an early age. Before graduating from Ravenna High School, he participated in middle and high school band where he and his classmates received multiple awards from various musical competitions. He also participated in many theatre productions where he filled numerous roles from acting to prop and set production, to audio engineering. After graduation he tried out for the President's own United States Marine Corps Band. Once his military service was complete, he enrolled at the Institute of Production and Recording in Minneapolis where he hoped to enter the professional recording industry and one day work at Skywalker sound or ILM. Unfortunately, life got in the way, and he was unable to fulfill this opportunity. Over the next few years, he created a wedding DJ company where he provided MC & DJ services for many happy newlyweds. Matt’s passion for the arts and especially the music program is carried on through his three children who are all participants in the band program. Through decades of life experience Matt brings a wealth of knowledge to the boosters by providing meaningful insight during various situations and discussions.

Matt is a new small business owner and a member of the plumbers, pipe fitters, welders and service trades union UA174. In his current position he is learning how to be a successful small business owner by effectively communicating with his customers and providing a niche service no other company in the area provides. Matt's vision for the boosters as a nonprofit organization is to provide assistance for any families of students interested in the arts that would not otherwise be able to participate.

Patti Scherf - Treasurer

My involvement with the Grant Fine Arts began in 2022 when my son started his journey in marching band. Since then, I have supported the students through assisting with fundraising, watching band and theater performances, chaperoning on trips, and becoming treasurer of the Grant Fine Arts Boosters.

I wanted to be on the Grant Fine Arts Boosters board because I wanted to support the students and the fine arts in the Grant community.  I believe that the fine arts programs are essential to the growth and development of the students and makes the community stronger through the creativity it provides to all.

I was born and raised in Grant.  Graduated from Grant in 1997 and attended Baker College.  After college, I began working for Gerber Federal Credit Union where I am currently the Senior Branch Manager.  Over the 24 years I have been at the credit union, I have built professional relationships with the members and businesses I serve.

Jessica Bedell - Director of Fundraising

As Director of Fundraising for the Grant Fine Arts Boosters, I am deeply dedicated to supporting and advancing all areas of the fine arts. My passion for the arts is both professional and personal, as my children actively participate in the Grant Bands program. I take great pride in the organization’s achievements, including the championship title earned in 2024 and the second-place championship finish in 2025.

For more than twenty years, I have been an active and devoted member of the Newaygo County community, building strong relationships with families and organizations throughout the area. In addition to my work with the fine arts, I have provided at-home, personal dog grooming services for over two decades, helping local families care for their beloved pets with trust and compassion. Through both my fundraising efforts and hands-on community involvement, I remain committed to strengthening Newaygo County through creativity, service, and connection.

Melanie is a dedicated member of the Grant Fine Arts Booster Board with deep roots in the arts and the school district. Her passion for fine and performing arts began in middle school and high school, where she was actively involved in both band and theatre. Those early experiences shaped her lifelong appreciation for creative expression and student involvement in the arts.

She currently serves the district as an English Language Arts teacher, where she encourages creativity, critical thinking, and an appreciation of the written word in her students. As both an educator and a parent, she brings a unique perspective to the booster board. Her two children are or have been enrolled in the district and are actively involved in fine and performing arts programs, further strengthening her commitment to their success.

She is deeply invested in supporting students, educators, and programs, and she is passionate about helping the district’s fine arts programs grow, thrive, and reach their fullest potential. Her goal is to ensure these programs remain strong, accessible, and enriching for all students.
